GRAND HOTEL RECORDS
DIRTY WEEKEND EP1
*SUBMO – TEST DEM
*PLUMP DJS – LIGHT FANTASTIC (RESET! REMIX)
*BONSAI KAT – EGOTRIPPING (NOM DE STRIP REMIX)
Following a prolific year, eight individually acclaimed releases and several sell-out label parties at East London venues XOYO and The Nest, Grand Hotel Records kick off 2012 by releasing their first serving of stand-out tracks and remixes… Dirty Weekend.
Due to the volume of artists who have become integral cogs in the Grand Hotel machine, one compilation album just couldn’t accommodate the volume of music the label has accumulated over the past couple of years. This being the case, the Dirty Weekend will be less of a weekend and more of a four-month break, enough time for the GH team to unveil three EP’s before the final pièce de résistance touches down in the tail end of Spring.
EP1, due for release in March, features tracks from Grand Hotel signings Submo and Bonsai Kat alongside label head honcho’s Plump DJs. Submo’s ‘Test Dem’, a track that can only be described as monstrous, delves straight into the fold with deliciously edgy bass and drums, and as the first Submo track to come out on the label it promises big things to come from this rising star. Two of Grand Hotel’s most notable original tracks, Bonsai Kat’s ‘Egotripping’ and Plump DJs ‘Light Fantastic’, are both given the remixing treatment by Nom De Strip and ReSeT! respectively resulting in two peak set worthy killers which sum up Grand Hotel’s infectious style to a tee.
And this is just the start, prepare for two more EP’s and the mammoth album still to come featuring both original tracks and remixes from some of the electronic scene’s most inspirational stars, including Detboi, Stanton Warriors, Bonsai Kat, Marten Horger, Blatta & Inesha, Nom De Strip, WAFA, Mistamen, Beautique, King James & Budaken, Urchins, Drm Rll Pls, Submo and Dirty Super Car. With DJ support and major plays for GH releases coming in from the likes of Moby, Fatboy Slim, A-Trak, Annie Mac, DJ Zinc, Carl Cox, Crookers and Annie Nightingale, excitement at the Hotel is hitting fever pitch as the vinyl goes to press on this one…
Like all Dirty Weekend’s you’re sure to come out of the other side insanely sweaty, inevitably tired and most definitely hungry for more…
Look out for the official Dirty Weekend launch party, taking place in Grand Hotel’s hometown of London this April.
